Automatic movement

Automatic movement

Healthy movement is thoughtless and fearless. The moment you have to consciously think about how to move, or hesitate out of fear of pain, that movement pattern stops being reliable. An injury, however old, can leave altered movement patterns behind long after the tissue itself has healed. Those patterns were useful for short-term recovery. Left alone, they cause problems down the line.

Bottom-up motor programming

Bottom-up motor programming

Early in an injury, it's normal to be coached to step, bend, or land a certain way. That phase matters, but it doesn't go far enough on its own. Real life doesn't give you time to pre-plan a movement before you make it. Care here builds toward automatic, reflexive movement that holds up in the yard, on the field, or wherever life happens.

Movement confidence

Movement confidence

Fear narrows activity more often than injury does. If you've been told you'll never golf again, or you avoid pickleball because of balance concerns, that limit deserves to be tested, not just accepted. Through graded exposure, we safely expand what you're able to do and open doors you may have assumed were closed.

Multi-modal pain treatment

Multi-modal pain treatment

Chronic pain affects far more than the area that hurts. It can narrow attention, patience, and tolerance for busy environments, and that's a normal nervous system response, not a sign that anything is wrong with you personally. Treatment addresses both the physical issue and the nervous system changes that come with pain that's stuck around.
